School Board Blackout

The Knox County School Board is holding a Work Session on Wednesday December 4 at 5 PM in the Main Assembly Room at the City-County Building (400 W. Main St., Knoxville). They will be considering the Released Time program in which students are bused from Sterchi Elementary to The Church at Sterchi Hills for religious indoctrination during class time. The Satanic Children's Ministry is promising to use Released Time for education in "Satanic tenets"; you can show your support for the Ministry and your opposition to Released Time by wearing black to the meeting.

Help get 10 Commandments Stone Installation Removed

Van Buren County recently installed a 10 Commandments monument in front of their Justice Center. Notice the irony! FFRF would like to move forward with legal action against this violation of church/state separation. In order to do so, there must be a resident of Van Buren County willing to be the complainant. If you are, or if you know of a willing resident of Van Buren County, the contact address to alert FFRF of willingness to take part in litigation is: intake@ffrf.org. Only residents of Van Buren County have standing against this egregious action of religious privilege.

Tell us about the Karns Middle School Assembly

Guest speaker: parents got an e-mail from the principal telling them about a guest speaker the next day, who is religious but will not be talking about religion. Parents were told that children could be kept in another room if desired. The inspirational speaker would talk about life-changing event. FFRF-ETC alerted FFRF national, who will send a letter to Karns. FFRF national says that similar events are often not religious but include an invitation to attend a religious gathering. Can someone in the Karns community tell FFRF-ETC what happened at the assembly?
